Description
A KPIX news compilation from July to September 1976, assembled by KPIX producers, featuring an edit of several newsfilm reels covering the Chowchilla kidnapping story. Includes: an interview in which the speaker won't talk about a $5 million ransom note because of a gag order; an interview with the manager of a hardware store, where the kidnappers apparently worked on some vehicles; scenes of students Jennifer and Jeffrey Brown answering letters and an interview with their mother, who expresses unease that the kidnappers are still at large; an interview with Carol Marshall, the mother of one of the missing students; views of students riding on a school bus in September, being driven by Betty Spradley; brief scenes of the kidnapped students and Ed Ray being returned to Chowchilla by police; views of the 3 suspects being led into waiting cars by police and views of students arriving at their school in Chowchilla, ready for the start of a new academic year. This 16mm reversal film print was transferred in 4K (4096 x 2970) using a Lasergraphics ScanStation film scanner, in September 2022.
