Description
KPIX-TV news footage from January 29, 1973 with reporter Pat O'Brien featuring scenes from outside the Solano County Courthouse in Fairfield, where large crowds have gathered to demonstrate in support of Juan Corona being granted a new trial. The 38-year old labor contractor was found guilty on January 28 of first-degree murder on all 25 counts charged, after a 4-month trial. We are told that Judge Richard Patton postponed making a decision about the possibility of a new trial for 1-week. This motion was submitted by Corona's defense attorney Richard Hawk, on the grounds of jury tampering and misconduct by District Attorney G. Dave Teja. Note: there is a sequence of voice-over from Pat O'Brien which runs without picture elements (missing) for just under 1-minute. Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.
