Description
KRON-TV news footage from July 25, 1968 with reporter Gordon Graham featuring scenes from a press conference by the Black Panther Party and Peace and Freedom Party, in which Bobby Seale answers questions about trying to put a Police Control Board Initiative onto the November ballots in Oakland and Berkeley. He states: "Our objective here is to take the power - police power - out of the power structure's hands." Seale also goes on to express criticism of Cleveland's Mayor Carl Stokes. Opens with brief views of Seale pointing to a large map of Oakland which is divided up according to race ("white" and "black"). Opening graphic designed by Carrie Hawks.

This 16mm film reel was kindly donated to the TV Archive by David Webb Peoples in April 2023, who used to work as a film editor for KRON in the 1960s.

This 16mm color reversal print was transferred in 4K (4096 x 2970) using a Lasergraphics ScanStation film scanner, in March 2024
