Description
KRON-TV news footage from November 28, 1967 featuring scenes from the arraignment of Huey P. Newton in Oakland, at the courtroom of Superior Court Judge Redmond C. Staats. Includes views of people sat in the courtroom, with many members of the Black Panther Party present and a press conference afterwards with defense attorney Charles Garry, who is requesting a two week continuance, to study the prosecution's discovery material. Garry goes to to state his belief that Newton is not only innocent of shooting two Oakland police officers on October 23 but is in fact the victim in this case.

This 16mm film reel was kindly donated to the TV Archive by David Webb Peoples in April 2023, who used to work as a film editor for KRON in the 1960s.

This 16mm negative film print was transferred in 4K (4096 x 2970) using a Lasergraphics ScanStation film scanner, in March 2024
