Extended Laptops Checkout

Courtesy notice laptops expires 8/6/20. New due date is 8/21/20 to match with other Extended checkout laptops. All laptops are due 8/21/2020 at 1400 hrs. We will send another notification one week before due date and all students registered for Fall 2020 courses can request for due date extension.

Students can contact the library about laptops by emailing service@sfsu.edu or calling 415-338-1420. If a student is not enrolled for Summer 2020, they can request the library to send a prepaid shipping box to return the laptop.

Description

Borrow an older Apple Macintosh or Dell laptop for up to 30 days. Ok to use off campus. Laptops come fully loaded with software and with admin privileges, which allows user to install additional software.

Price

While this is a free service, you are financially responsible if a laptop is damaged, lost or stolen. You will also be charged late fees if you return a laptop late. Please read the Laptop Checkout Agreement for more details.

Late Fees / Replacement Costs

$15.00 per day (or any fraction of a day) the laptop is not returned after the day it is due.

$5.00 per day (or any fraction of a day) the power adapter is not returned after the day it is due.

Damaged, lost, non-returned or stolen power adapter will be assessed a replacement cost of up to $100.00

Damaged, lost, non-returned or stolen laptops will be assessed a replacement cost of up to $2,000.00

Agreement

You must read and sign the Laptop checkout agreement before borrowing a laptop.

Blocks

If you owe $50 or more on your Library account then you won't be able to borrow a laptop or any other equipment from the Library. Your account may also be blocked if you have violated the terms of the Laptop Checkout agreement.
