Off-Campus Database Access
Overview
Most of the Library's subscription databases and e-books can be used from off-campus at home or work if you are a student, staff or faculty member at SF State. Off-campus access is not available for the public, SF State Alumni, Friends of the Library, or students who are not currently enrolled. Graduate Thesis Students and students finishing incompletes should request an access form from the Book Checkout & Pickup Counter. An SF State faculty member must sign this form.
Library PIN
You must establish a Library PIN to use resources from off-campus.
Instructions
Using databases while off-campus is simple: just click on the link as you would while on campus. A screen will appear asking for your name, SF State ID, and Library PIN. Fill in the form and submit it. You should be taken to the next screen to start searching, or reading your e-book.
You only need to sign in for the first resource you use during a session; the next database will come up without a login screen, because your browser will have a cookie. Your browser's default preference is probably to accept cookies, so you may not need to change any settings.
