New Study Commons Access Policy

In response to the growing demand for computer access and study space in the Library we have implemented a new access policy for the Study Commons on the ground floor. Starting August 27th, 2012, the Study Commons will be open only to current SF State students, faculty and staff with a valid SF State OneCard ID. Current students, faculty and staff remember to have your SF State OneCard ID card with you at all times when using the Study Commons.

The Study Commons contains approximately 45 iMacs and 45 Windows PCs, extra table space for laptop users, 12 group study rooms and a large quiet study room. During the regular semester it is generally open until 2am. See hours for exceptions.

Other users, including members of Friends of the Library, the Alumni Association and guests can continue to use the Research Commons on the first floor during regular Library hours.

After-hours access to the Research Commons and the 1st floor cafe/lobby areas remain restricted to current SF State Students, faculty and staff with a valid SF State OneCard ID between 12am and 8am.

Link+ Downtime Saturday, August 4th

The Link+ service, which allows our users to borrow books we don’t have from nearby libraries, will be down this Saturday night, August 4th from 8pm until Midnight. During this time you will not be able to search for or request books in the Link+ system. Our Library Catalog will not otherwise be affected. This downtime will allow Link+ to upgrade their network hardware and to improve their overall network infrastructure.
