I am a Grad student and have been using 426C since I started my program in Spring 2006. It may sound dramatic, but I am heartbroken over the loss of the room. There is no other room in the entire library where you are guaranteed relative quiet and room and a laptop outlet. The other rooms either have no windows, are crowded, don’t have reading chairs, or are noisy with people who don’t understand the concept of putting your cell phone on vibrate and that the group study rooms are somewhere ELSE! Grads depend on this room and the Library Administration should REPLACE it! If not in the library, then somewhere else on campus- a study space that’s ONLY for GRAD students. That facility really made a difference in my studies and I find it a great loss. Thanks.

We understand how you feel about the old Faculty/Graduate Reading room. We too were heartbroken to have to close the room before the end of the semester. Rest assured, there will be an even nicer Fac/Grad reading room in the new library. In the meantime, we are working with a variety of people on campus to identify new study spaces that can be brought online for the Fall semester. Stay tuned. We’ll post updates to the Library Spotlight blog and the Library website.
