Digital Textbook Workshop for Faculty

September 14th, 2009

Digital Textbooks Demystified: Sept. 17, 3:30-5pm

All faculty are welcome to this discussion on digital textbooks in Burk Hall 333.

Worried about the price of textbooks for your students? Unsure about the logistics of digital book technology, accessibility and distribution? This 90 minute workshop will help you find some answers. Experts from the J. Paul Library, the SFSU Bookstore and Academic Technology will help you explore how to find, select and assign digital books to your students, as well as report on trends in the textbook publishing industry and statewide digital textbook initiatives.

Given recent developments in California k-12 schools and the Google Books settlement we should have much to talk about! For more information contact Mira Foster mira@sfsu.edu or go to http://ctfd.sfsu.edu/workshops.htm.

If you need any information about California’s Free Digital Textbook Initiative, i’d be happy to help. We, the California Learning Resource Network, performed the reviews and are currently planning release of the Phase 2 announcement. The FDTI results and report can be found at: http://www.clrn.org/fdti/ and my extensive writings about the textbook revolution may be found on my web site: http://brianbridges.org

    thanks,

    brian
