Books from Library Retrieval System Now Available within 15-20 Minutes

March 26th, 2012

Students and faculty will continue to request books they want from the Library Retrieval System using the online catalog, but the books should now be available within 15-20 minutes.  Eligible borrowers can request books any time 24/7 from any computer anywhere using the online catalog and have the books waiting for them to pick up when they next come to the Library.  Requested items are held on the LRS Book Pickup shelves for six calendar days.  Books not picked up within six days are returned to the collection.

Right now the Library Retrieval System software does not notify you when your books are ready for pickup. Hopefully, we will be able to provide that service in the future.

This is untrue. I often request a book and must wait hours for it to be brought down.

We were surprised to see your comment about turnaround time to have requested books available from the Library Retrieval System. We are monitoring the turnaround time carefully to ensure that we are meeting the expectation we have set. With the exception of occasional mechanical issues that can temporarily delay retrieval, we are providing requested materials within 15-20 minutes.
