Library Catalog & Related Services Down this Thursday (9/30/10)

On Thursday, September 30th, beginning at 7am, the library catalog and related services will be unavailable while we upgrade our Library management system to the latest version. The downtime may last until 12 noon, but there is a good chance that services will resume before that.

During the outage, the following services will be unavailable:

  • Book search and requests
  • Book checkout
  • All access to databases
  • Library staff & faculty use of Millennium

We apologize for any inconvenience this will cause.

Leonard Library Mobile

Try the new Leonard Library mobile site from your iPhone,  Android or other mobile device by visiting m.library.sfsu.edu. From now on when you visit the regular Library website on your smart phone you will be redirected to the mobile site.

Search the Library catalog by keyword for books; select the item you want and click on “Request.” Enter the requested information to have the book delivered to HSS 102 for pick-up.

Find Articles

Choose “Find Articles” from the main screen and click on a database to search for articles in many different journals by keyword.  Hint: Academic Search Premier and JSTOR are good all-purpose databases. (Article searching works best with a wi-fi connection.)

IM

Instant Messaging

For instant message assistance, choose the “IM” link on the main screen; enter your question and press the green arrow.

For hours, locations, and other information about library computers and study space click on links under “Info” on the main screen.

Trouble requesting books? Let us know about it.

We are getting scattered reports of a range of different kinds of problems patrons are having requesting books.We’re doing our best to track these down and resolve them, but it would be very helpful if you would tell us about them when they happen.

Please leave a comment below. Indicate the title of the book, a brief description of what went wrong, whether you were using a Mac or Windows PC, and your email address, if you’d like us to get back to you.

We’re sorry about these problems, which are related to the installation of the Library Retrieval System (LRS) over the summer. Library staff are working with the Library System vendor to resolve these issues as quickly as possible.

Library Catalog & Related Services Down on Friday

On Friday, September 17, from 8AM till Noon, the library catalog and related services will be unavailable.

During this time we will replace faulty hardware. Once the new hardware is in place, we will be able to move forward with fixing the issues we’ve been having with requesting books from the new Library Retrieval System (LRS).

During the outage, the following services will be unavailable:

  • Book search and requests
  • Book checkout
  • Electronic Reserves
  • Off-campus access to databases
  • Library staff & faculty use of Millennium
