Absolutely! I discovered the Library of Congress on Flickr and have been fascinated by the images.

As a library of a public college, that is funded in part by the people paying taxes I think its more then a question of frivolity\. Its more abouut unenumerated rights as a citizen. The library should be tearing down walls in front of information as fast as they can. The people of California have the right not the privilege to see this information in an open and accessible format. Flickr is a great first step, but we need to think broader about why we make it so hard for people gain access to the knowledge that is stored in our public university’s.

I think the question to ask is ‘why WOULDN’T we want to have our pictures available thru flickr?’
Seems like it would be a great way to make these resources more easily available.

that’s great news! Give Flickr a try–we’ve been experimenting with it in College of Creative Arts with great results!
