Will SF State offer transportation to the new location of the library known as the "big Bubble" beginning Dec. 1, 2008 once it's open for 24 hours? It seems to far to walk those wishing to study really late at night. How will SF State Police address security concerns about walking all the way out there to the "big Bubble"?

This is such an inconvenience. Goodluck to all students.

Library Response
Library Annex I is located on North State Drive, near the corner of Winston Drive and Lake Merced Boulevard. It is northwest of the main parking garage (Lots 19 &20). Aside from reaching it by foot, several other options are available:

1) The San Francisco State Department of Parking & Transportation provides free shuttle service to and from the Daly City BART station during the fall and spring semesters. Beginning November 17, one shuttle will make a loop of the campus including a stop near the Library Annexes before proceeding to the BART station. The Campus Loop Shuttle will run approximately every 30 to 35 minutes from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Stops in the Campus Loop include (in order):

· Creative Arts
· Font Boulevard (at Mary Ward Hall)
· Winston Boulevard at Lake Merced Boulevard (at MUNI stop)
· University Park North (Buckingham Way at Winston Drive)
· 19th Avenue at Holloway

For more information, please call 415-338-1441 or write: parking@sfsu.edu .

2) Public Transportation: Various bus lines serve SF State's northwest corner and will provide convenient access to the Annex. Please see http://www.sfsu.edu/newlibrary/gettingthere.html for a list of public transportation alternatives.

3) Car: If arriving at SF State by automobile, several parking lots provide convenient access to the Annex. The annex is just northwest of Lots 19 and 20-- the campus parking garage. Additionally, Lot 25, just north of Winston Drive and east of Lake Merced Boulevard, is near the Annex. For more information, visit the Department of Parking & Transporation.

4) Bicycle: Bicycle parking will be available in bike racks just outside Annex I. For information about bikes at SF State, please visit the Department of Parking & Transportation's bicyle-related website. It contains useful information about parking, routes to campus, and safety tips.

5) C.A.R.E. Program Escorts: C.A.R.E., the Campus Alliance for a Risk-free Environment, is a student security team employed, trained, and supervised by the University Police Department. Team members will be available to escort you to and from the Annex. While most escorts are provided by walking, an electric cart escort is available under special circumstances. To contact CARE, call 338-7200 and tell the dispatcher where you would prefer to be met. Please allow 10 to 15 minutes for CARE. to arrive. For more information, visit the CARE website.
