These were NOT donated to the school. We have plenty of Windows laptops on campus that do not go out for rent. We have a library annex full of iMacs and computers for the student population to use. The LAST thing we need is more spending on items that the general students DO NOT need. When we are in a budget crisis, is it best to squander the little resources we still have?

Why do we need the latest and the best? I purchased my laptop on craigslist for $100 and it works terrific.

The computers we already have on campus for use are great as is. It is the waste of money that concerns me. And if it doesn’t concern you, you aren’t looking hard enough.

I’m a pc too. I’d make the switch to mac if they supported more of the software I use. Just another case of learning pc first and not wanting to change.

i only own a PC, and the additional new macs definitely help me do some of the work that my PC isn’t capable of, like CutPro, iMovie, Celtix, et al. needless to say, my tuition (if they used it for these) is worth it.

I think both Mike and Cystal have good points but I don’t think they came out of schools general operations fund. I think it great for students on financial aid or in the media department who limited open lab hours to finish there homework.

Hey mike, do you know how finances work? They were probably donated to the school or the money was procured through a grant. I doubt this came out of the general operations fund.

Mike, I think this is a great resource for students. For those of us in the media department, there are a lot of programs that run only on the mac operating system, and sometimes there’s not enough open lab hours to finish assignments. For those of us who do not have our own $1,000 MacBook, this is an invaluable asset.

I actually appreciate the additional laptops. As a financial aid recipient I am not able to have both laptop and home computer, I siumply do not have the funds. This will enable me to complete some assignments and the like, while on campus. I only hope there is enough of them. Have you considered a a larger window of time to use them

Why are we wasting money on new laptops when our tuition is through the roof? Thanks for wasting more of our tax dollars and hiking up the prices of school. You folks should be ashamed.
