Slow WIFI?

If you receive complaints about slow wifi in the building, please make sure that you send a message to Thoreau Lovell (tlovell@sfsu.edu) and/or Chris Novak (cnovak@sfsu.edu).  Unless the Lib IT staff are alerted to issues related to slow wifi, they may not  be aware that there is a problem.  If you can specify location where there’s a problem, that would help.

One Response to Slow WIFI?

Some good points from Chris Novak:
    1. Patrons should look for the wireless ‘hub’ on the ceiling. (long white pole w/ square box, flashing light). There are various hubs on each floor. Connectivity may increase in areas where there are fewer students.

    2. Slow connectivity may have something to do with the time of semester i.e. “Finals” and too many users working on their laptops

    3. Wireless is similar to a radio signal. Avoid areas, like the book stacks, where the signal may be ‘blocked’.
