After hours glitch? Potential theft?

Just a thought…if someone who was in the main library went down to the ground floor  either before or shortly after 10pm with some books and stayed after 10 pm, they can easily take the elevators up to the first floor avoiding the book alarms. I am not sure if people will realize they can do that but it is a potential for some thefts.

    Should security gates be moved to the elevator exit, so that the book will beep before going to the computer lab? A self check-out station could be put in the area so the book(s) could be checked out right there.
