Library users still reporting trouble with E-mail going directly into SPAM/JUNK
I am still getting reports of library messages via e-mail going directly into the user’s SPAM/JUNK mail boxes. This appears to be occurring due to the e-mail server upgrade. Is anyone else still getting reports of this? Thomas thought the issue had been resolved, but perhaps not? If anyone is still receiving complaints such as “I have tried to reset my PIN several times and I never get the e-mail message” please report. In my experience since this has started to happen, if the patron does check their SPAM/JUNK mail they have been able to find and retrieve those e-mail messages.

Hi Laura.
Most students forward their email to third party email accounts (ie: gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc.) so this is tough. One thing to look for is if the email address or the domain (@mail.sfsu.edu)has been added to the “safe senders list” in those accounts either web based or software client (Outlook, Eudora, Thunderbird, etc).
If the mail is getting caught in the junk folder in live.com (which is the student’s online email access) then they should reference this link: http://www.sfsu.edu/~helpdesk/email/studentemail.html
I hope this helps.
