When its ‘working’, patrons can request a book from the LRS (Library Retrieval System) and enter their name, university ID number, and PIN account. Patrons can view their Library Account and display what books they’ve requested, along with library items checked out to their name, and books for pick-up.
Unfortunately, this feature (library books requested) is working occasionally, but not completely. If you’re requesting a book and you’re asked for your last name and first name ONLY, then the status of your request won’t appear in your Library Account. Based upon the number of complaints we’ve received in Annex 1, patrons are uncertain of the status and availability of their requested item.
Until this problem gets fixed, students have another option. Once a book is requested, they can go into the InvestiGator catalog and perform a title search. If the request was successfully submitted, the item record will display 2 possible messages.
1. In Transit – This means its being processed for retrieval in HSS 102
2. Pickup @Distr -This means its currently on the shelf in HSS 102.
Again, patrons will need to search, by title, for a book they have requested to verify the status and availability. This information will be available from their Library Account as soon as it gets fixed.
