Hi I was helping a patron (on an IM Session) with a book request problem yesterday involving not being able to see the full book request form on a MAC. Patron was using Safari, and with some troubleshooting assistance from Thoreau, it appeared to be a problem on the patron’s end. Clearing the cache on a patron’s computer is often essential in getting these newer programs to work properly. The reason to clear the cache is to ensure that the browser displays the most current version of visited web pages. I was unclear as to how to communicate this to patron, so I am posting the methods for clearing the cache for each of the browsers. Thanks Thoreau.
This is just for the MAC. Windows browser options should be similar.
Safari – Safari Menu -> Empty Cache
Firefox Mac – Tools Menu -> Clear Recent History -> Details -> Make sure that cache is the only option checked -> Time Range to Clear = Everything
The other suggestion to the patron was to exit Safari and switch to Firefox. When patron chose this option, I believe the book request system worked as it should.
