THE STAPLER GRAVEYARD and STAPLER EMERGENCY
The most frequent question of the evening is: Where is the stapler? All of the staplers are now broken. The one remaining unbroken stapler has been removed from the table and no one can find it. The automatic stapler requires staples that we don’t seem to have. We are having a stapler emergency.

on a more serious note, the staples for the electric stapler are located behind the Reference counter – on the shelf below the ‘ear plug’ dispenser. Its in a 8×11 mailing folder, clearly labeled staples for electric stapler. Also, there is an envelope for staples for the Heavy Duty stapler. This morning, there were 3 functioning manual staplers. I’ll get some more tomorrow, but its that time of the semester!

update: this morning, i counted 3 staplers that weren’t broken. One at the Reference Desk (near phone), one near the “Print Release Station” and one near the 2nd “Print Release Station”. Also there was another functioning electric stapler near the copier (east side). I don’t see an “emergency”.
Please Note: On the counter below the “Ear Plug” dispenser, there are two envelopes. One envelope has staples for the ‘medium duty’ “Electric Stapler” – now relocated across from the Reference Desk. This stapler handles up to 50 pages and uses 3/8″ staples. There is also a separate envelope for ‘Heavy Duty’ staples (.5″ staples). Also, I put a ‘regular’ electric stapler (uses regular staples) near the two “Print Release Stations”
This morning, I spent over 10 minutes trying to unjam the “Heavy Duty” stapler. Everyone: please keep it behind the Reference Desk. This stapler is NOT MEANT for small jobs i.e. 50 pages or less. If you try and use it for less than 50 pages, the staples curl back into the stapler and create major jams.

Well then the folks who walked off with them last night must have put them back after using them as their personal staplers because there weren’t any I could find last night. And we did finally find the staples for the electric one and were able to put that one back into service.
