5.13 Library Support of Professional Activities
The question of what level of Library support is available to Library faculty who accept an office or other leadership role in a professional organization was discussed at the faculty meeting of March 18, 1981.
The decision is as follows:
- Cost of telephone calls, copying an mailing routine correspondence , meeting agendas, etc., for job-related organizations will be absorbed by the Library. General mailings to the membership, newsletters, and other large scale copying and mailing must remain the financial responsibility of the organization.
- No specific budget allocation or approval process is established for this purpose. Rather, it is the responsibility of each individual involved to make an informed judgment as to what constitutes reasonable use of the privilege.
I hope that is information will facilitate faculty commitment to professional organization activities.
